Impressionist painting of a waves by Elissa Carroll.

Light Changes Everything.

In an instant, a color becomes electric. A still scene begins to move. That’s what Elissa Carroll paints—not just the subject, but the transformation. Her impressionist abstract paintings are inspired by natural light, ever-shifting skies, quiet gardens, and coastal landscapes. Using a blend of vigorous brushstrokes and soft, quiet blending, Elissa captures the beauty of transition—the exact moment something becomes something else.

“My method is playful, organic, and fluid. I aim to reflect motion and emotion—while creating a lasting sense of peace.”

FAQ

Your Questions Answered

What sizes do you offer?

Most commissions range from 18x24" to 48x60"+, but smaller or larger formats are available. We’ll decide together what works best for your space.

Do you offer prints?

Elissa’s focus is on original work only. However, select high-quality prints may be offered seasonally or upon request.

Do you ship nationally?

Yes. All work is packaged securely and shipped via insured carrier. Local delivery or installation may be available within the New York area.

Is framing included?

Framing is not included. Elissa is happy to offer guidance on what styles, materials, or tones would complement your piece—but she recommends working with a local professional framer to ensure the best fit for your space. Each painting is delivered ready to frame, with edges finished cleanly so you can decide what works best in your home.

Can I request changes during the process?

Because each painting develops organically, major changes aren’t typical. That said, minor adjustments to tone, detail, or orientation can be discussed mid-process.

Do I need to know exactly what I want?

Not at all. You can start with a reference image, a color you love, or even just a mood. Elissa will guide you.

What Makes A Painting Finished?

What Makes A Painting Finished?

Sometimes, I’m still adjusting a piece even after it’s framed and hanging in my studio. I’ll walk past it and think: that corner could be softer or that blue could be a little warmer. It’s not about indecision. It’s about relationship.

How I Paint Light

How I Paint Light

Light doesn’t sit still. It moves. It softens. It shifts a whole scene without changing the subject. That’s what draws me to it—and what makes painting it a challenge I never quite want to solve.
