Color & Light In Motion

Elissa Carroll is a painter based in Rye, New York. Her work is rooted in close observation—of light, movement, and the quiet shifts in nature that often mark a moment in time. Working primarily in oil, she creates impressionist, abstract paintings that reflect her surroundings and the feeling of being present within them.

Testimonials

What Collectors Say

We worked with Elissa over a couple months. She was quite attentive to our vision and thoughts for a living room painting. Her finished product was perfect. Elissa is talented and thoughtful. We are quite grateful to have connected with her.

Jim & Maria Richardson

Elissa is the only artist that I can purchase from without having to consult my husband first. He loves her work as much as I do! We now have one in our entryway and one in our bedroom. The way she combines the colors in her abstracts sets the tone for our entire home.

Lori & Wes Naylor

We fell in love with Elissa’s painting of the Pacific Ocean as soon as we saw it! We especially love the colors that she creates. Elissa’s art delivers light, joy and calmness, which we love seeing in our home every day.

Yuko Watanabe

Elissa has such a masterful grasp on both light and color. Her paintings draw you in and then take you away to a serene and beautiful place. I have now worked with Elissa on three different projects and she is simply a delight to work with.

Amy Lawrence

Elissa was wonderful to work with. We commissioned Elissa for a painting in our home and she truly took our insight, requests, and personal details to heart and incorporated them into her artwork. She kept us updated throughout the process and gave us a wonderful finished product that we will cherish forever!

What Makes A Painting Finished?

What Makes A Painting Finished?

Sometimes, I’m still adjusting a piece even after it’s framed and hanging in my studio. I’ll walk past it and think: that corner could be softer or that blue could be a little warmer. It’s not about indecision. It’s about relationship.

How I Paint Light

How I Paint Light

Light doesn’t sit still. It moves. It softens. It shifts a whole scene without changing the subject. That’s what draws me to it—and what makes painting it a challenge I never quite want to solve.
